Celebrating Talent: Benjamin Davis
As Canada’s leading consultancy to the non-profit sector, at KCI we measure our success through the success of our clients. It’s energizing to look back at 20 years of KCI Search + Talent candidate ‘placements’ to see what the leaders we’ve placed have accomplished for organizations all across our country.
It’s also gratifying to see that many people ‘placed’ by KCI have stayed and thrived in their roles long past the average tenure that we see in the sector. These are people whose loyalty, expertise, and passion for the mission drives long-term impact for their organizations, and the people and communities they serve.
We are celebrating these individuals through this ‘Celebrating Talent’ series of short profiles and interviews. We hope you enjoy reading about these inspiring sector leaders and celebrating their success along with us!
Celebrating Benjamin Davis, Senior Vice-President, Mission, MS Canada
Why did you originally consider joining MS Canada?
I joined MS Canada over 10 years ago. I was drawn to the role because of its compelling mission and my desire to make a positive impact for others.
What’s kept you at MS Canada for 10+ years?
Simply put, the MS Community is incredible. Working in partnership with so many talented volunteers, advocates, donors, staff and those affected by MS makes the work rewarding and inspiring.
What are you most proud of accomplishing during your time there?
Over the years, there have been plenty of important accomplishments. It is hard to pick just one, but our efforts to get episodic illness included in the definition of disability, as part of the Canada Accessibility legislation, would be high on my personal list!
What’s Next for MS Canada? What do you want people to know about the work of MS Canada?
MS Canada is on an exciting path with a bold vision for a World Free of Multiple Sclerosis. We are relentless in our pursuit of our impact goals: understanding and halting disease progression, enhancing well-being, advancing treatment and care and preventing MS. It is an absolute pleasure to play a role in moving in a focused way towards these ambitious and meaningful goals.
One piece of career advice you’d give to others?
Having now worked for 25 years in the charitable sector, my one piece of career advice would be to lead with empathy and transparency. Making those around you to feel welcomed, respected and clear on purpose and the path forward makes for a long and fulfilling career in leadership.
