To help rebuild SickKids Hospital, including a new patient care centre. The new patient care tower will be called the Peter Gilgan Family Patient Care Tower. This is the largest single gift received by SickKids to date. Gilgan has previously donated $40 Million in 2012 to help build the Sick Kids research centre.

To help build Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, Vaughan’s first hospital and the first smart hospital in Canada, which is slated to open 2020. The donation to the hospital comes less than a year after the Cortelluci family donated $3 million to Hospice Vaughan, which is naming its new 10-bed facility the Mario and Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of
Excellence.

To connect vulnerable seniors — impeded by socio-economic, language and cultural barriers — with health and social services, offered by United Way’s network of community agencies. The gift is over six years. Allan Slaight Seniors Fund. This is the largest gift in the organization’s history. Before this investment, the largest individual gift to the region’s United Way was a bequest of $5 million.

To enhance business education and research at the I.H. Asper School of Business. The gift will support graduate programs and graduate student research in emerging areas such as behavioural finance. Stu Clark Graduate School at the I.H. Asper School of Business. One of the U of M’s largest donors, Stu Clark’s lifetime support of the I.H. Asper School of Business totals $19.3 million.

To fund the launch of The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, a national centre for collaboration and innovation in cybersecurity. The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst. Owned and operated by Ryerson, the Catalyst will open a physical space in Brampton later this year.

To fund a new state of the art hearing loss centre. B.C. Rotary Hearing and Balance Centre. The Rotary Club of Vancouver has been supporting hearing loss or deafness for three decades. In 1985, it formed the Rotary Club of Vancouver Hearing Foundation to address an unmet need in the philanthropy community. Through bike-a-thons and other events, it has raised over $3.5 million.

To create a sports medicine clinic that will revolutionize sports medicine research and care in Canada. The Dovigi Family Sports Medicine Clinic Dovigi, CEO of GFL Environmental, played sports growing up and was drafted to play hockey by the Edmonton Oilers.

To develop an emergency pediatric care centre at the South Health Campus. South Health Campus had been fundraising for the pediatric emergency care space for some time, and with the addition of the $3.9-million donation, the pod is expected to open sometime over
the summer.

Funds will be distributed over 5 years and will go toward student and family medicine resident scholarships and awards, including funds dedicated to Indigenous students and residents; the CFPC’s Family Medicine Forum; international fellowships; and Family medicine interest groups at medical schools across Canada to inspire students to pursue rewarding careers in family medicine. This investment is the latest in a series of contributions Scotiabank is making to Canada’s medical profession as part of its 10-year, $115-million affinity agreement with the CMA.

MSVU will receive the largest portion of the funding; $500,000 over the next 10 years.

Lowe’s raised $1.25 million for the organizations through a fundraising campaign at Lowe’s, RONA, Reno-Depot, and Ace Canada stores across the country. The funds will support 14 children’s hospitals across the country.

To support the expansion of the “Teach for Tomorrow: Build from Within – Ozhitoon Onji Peenjiiee” program nationwide. Currently the program is in Winnipeg only. The program helps identify young First Nations, Inuit, and Metis students in high school and building on their interest in becoming educators.

To help establish a food laboratory which will enable hospitality and nutrition students to learn innovative practices in food preparation, production, safety and food science. Anita Stewart Alumni Food Laboratory, named in honour of Anita Stewart, who has done much to advance Canada’s cuisine and food culture on the world stage. Michael Fournelle graduated from the university’s former hotel and food administration program in 1992. He now works in real estate development.

To support Autism Speaks’ Programming geared toward enhancing resources and services and increasing understanding,
acceptance and inclusion for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Since its first fundraiser in 2010, Toys “R” Us Canada has raised more than $8 million for the charity. Money was raised through Toys R Us Annual Golf Classic Tournament, from March 1 to June 18, 2019. The total gift amount includes contributions from employees, customers, and partners across the country.

$250,000 will be used to purchase a new building in Rankin Inlet, that can serve as the council’s permanent headquarters in the Kivalliq. The other $500,000 will go toward offering programming throughout the region. This gift was one of two gifts given to organizations in this community to celebrate the opening of a new mine.

Great-West Life — now operating under the new Canada Life brand— was one of the first signatories of the Winnipeg Indigenous Accord.

To expand FoodRescue.ca into British Columbia. This is a free, innovative platform that tackles food waste, food insecurity, and climate change.

A portion will support the Fonds Anne Lévesque, an innovative project that supports low-cost lodging for parents from outside Rimouski who have a newborn in the hospital. The rest will be devoted to children’s health projects.

This gift will single-handedly fund a heliport for Boundary Trails Health Centre. The gift is in memory of Ed Krahn, husband of Irene Krahn and father of Farrell Krahn and Corissa Wiebe.

To support the Promoting Life Skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program, benefitting Indigenous children nationwide.

To revitalize and expand the Culinary Institute of Canada facilities. A high-traffic café was named the Danny and Kevin Murphy Café and Commons at the college’s Tourism and Culinary Centre. Danny and Kevin, brothers, are business owners who own multiple restaurants, franchises, and hotels.

To upgrade the St. Laurent Royal Canadian Legion Métis Branch No.
250’s washrooms, furnishings, ventilation system, carpets and lighting and to build an outdoor patio.

To support the group’s three year Oral Health Navigator Project that hopes to provide education and health promotion opportunities to
600 newcomers and immigrants. The gift was administered by the WindsorEssex Community Foundation. It was part of Green Shield’s Six 4 Six Community Granting Initiative, which granted a total of $580,587 to 15 recipients through the WindsorEssex Community Foundation.

To support The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada’s programming to boost awareness, develop innovative technologies, and support those on a journey with a brain tumour. This gift was part of the company’s commitment to playing a leading role in the fight against brain tumours. They’re a leading supplier of medical-grade and sterilization Cobalt-60 isotopes, which help treat cancer and ensure the safety of medical tools.

To help fund the Sun Life Musical Instrument lending Library program through Prince Edward Island Public Libraries, allowing library card holders to sign out instruments for free. Sun Life Musical Instrument Lending Library Program. The gift is part of Sun Life’s Making the Arts More Accessible Program.

In memory of Jean Peacock, a longtime volunteer and patient of the hospital. Two cardiology monitoring rooms now under development at the hospital will bear Jean Peacock’s name. Jean Peacock was treated at Eagle Ridge Hospital and was in and out of medical institutions after her heart was damaged by chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer; macular degeneration also affected her eyes later on.

To further develop the church’s Food Security Distribution Centre. The gift was announced during a Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council awards event. The event’s audience collectively contributed an additional $200,000 on the spot.

To launch the ‘Journey of Hope’ program in Cat Lake First Nation, to provide mental health support to children coping with an ongoing housing and health emergency.
