An anonymous charitable foundation purchased the Sault Ste Marie YMCA’s recreation centre for $2 million to prevent the YMCA from having to shut down.

Donation from the RBC Foundation supports the creation of a youth mental well-being clinic which will support SHN’s transition-aged youth seeking outpatient mental health programs in one accessible community space.

Donation from the RBC Foundation will support green skills education and training at five colleges in Atlantic Canada: College of the North Atlantic and Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick will apply the donations to develop Electric Vehicle education and applied skills training programs; Nova Scotia Community College and New Brunswick Community College will use the donations to support wind and solar technician training programs; Holland College will use the donation to help fund a four-year green retrofit project.

Donation is to Queen’s cancer research institute, and will fund a new imaging facility to enhance immunotherapy research and drug discovery by providing real-time views of immune cells interacting with cancer, as well as a cancer training program which will offer hands-on experience and mentorship to students and researchers.

The Slaight Family Foundation announced a $30 million donation to support seven Canadian organizations in enhancing dementia research, prevention and compassionate care. Baycrest will received $9.5 million; CAMH Foundation will receive $6.5 million; Sunnybrook will receive $4.3 million; Alzheimer Society of Canada, Egale, and Toronto Metropolitan University’s National Institute on Ageing will each receive $3 million; and Belmont House will receive $700,000.

Donation will establish Canada’s first Stone Centre on Wealth and Income Inequality at UBC’s Vancouver School of Economics.
