At STU, the gift will fund the annual MSA Wild Salmon Grant providing an annual grant of $5,000 to an Indigenous undergraduate student in their second, third, or fourth year of study in the Bachelor of Arts.

To create more real-world learning opportunities including co-ops and research positions for Durham College students.

The gift will also endow a new Harquail Chair in Neuromodulation to be held by the Harquail Centre’s director.

The McConnell Foundation is moving $30M of its capital to community-focused Indigenous-led foundations beginning with a transfer of $10M to the Indigenous People’s Resilience Fund.

Towards the Faithfully Green Fund to provide access to capital for climate action projects in multifaith and multicultural communities.

The three-year grant will support operational funding to offer employment opportunities, mental health support, education, training, and traditional land-based practices to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous men.

To fund emerging research at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. The bulk of the gift will support recruitment and education, and expand neuroscience research from the labs at the University of Calgary. Gift is in USD.

Toward the capital campaign for the expansion at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Towards the new Price Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics.

To support the Jarislowsky Chair in Trust and Political Leadership program at Trent University. The gift, over five years, will further engage marginalized and equity-seeking students, prepare professional certificate programs, and support seminars, conferences, national networking opportunities, co-op education and work placements through the program.

The donation was raised through ticket sales and in store and online donations from March 27 to May 5, 2023.

Towards the County’s new hospital.

Toward the construction of a new community centre which will be named the Mirella and Lino Saputo Building.

To establish the VandenHoek Schlachter Pride Fund which will support a suite of awards aimed at reducing barriers for 2SLGBTQ+ students.

Donation supports Lambton College’s new $45 million capital campaign, Funding Futures. $1 million of the gift will go toward an Indigenous gathering space; $3 million toward a new soccer field and fire tower; and $1 million for continuing education and professional development opportunities for Lambton College employees.

Quantum Horizons Alberta (QHA) is a $25 million initiative to expand research and knowledge of quantum science and quantum physics. QHA is a partnership between University of Alberta, the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge, and is supported by a group of donors which includes Richard Bird, Patrick Daniel, Joanne Cuthbertson and Guy Turcotte.
