Lanny and Catharine Huff made a leadership donation through The Huff Family Fund, a fund managed by The County Foundation, to support COVID-19 response at all 4 Quinte Health Care hospitals; Prince Edward County Memorial, Belleville General, Trenton Memorial, and North Hastings.

$7 million will be used to support the Pender Ocean Discovery Station (PODS) Marine research facility; $1 million will cover operating expenses; and $400,000 will fund the project’s start-up costs. $8 million of the funding is contingent on the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society’s ability to secure the remaining money needed to move ahead with the project. Wilson, the founder of Lululemon and listed as Canada’s ninth richest person, is pledging the funding through his family’s Wilson 5 Foundation. Wilson owns property on the Sunshine Coast. The contribution is the largest the organization has received.

This gift will be split between the organizations and will support their COVID-19 response efforts. This is part of a $3 million commitment to fighting COVID-19 in Canada, the other half of which has not been announced yet.

This commitment will be distributed to 67 charities, First Nations, and municipalities across northern Saskatchewan to help them respond to COVID-19 via grants of up to $50,000 each.

This commitment will be shared between 9 charities: Feeding the Community ($200,000); BC Care Providers Association ($100,000); Greater Vancouver Food Bank ($50,000); Senior Services Society of BC ($25,000); Canucks Family Education Centre ($25,000); Mackie’s Place ($25,000); Foundry BC ($25,000); YWCA Crabtree Corner Community Resource Centre ($25,000); and Kids Help Phone ($25,000). The purpose is to support the organizations’ COVID-19 response efforts.

Dr. George Oreopoulos, a vascular surgeon at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and Chairman of Humane Medicine, has made this gift through Humane Medicine to purchase Personal Protective Equipment for UHN hospitals in response to COVID-19. This gift is in honour of his father who founded Humane Medicine, Dr. Dimtirios Oreopoulos, who passed away in 2012.

RBC has committed $200,000 for mental health support, with initial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association Colchester East Hants Branch and the #NovaScotiaStrong First Responders Fund with Wounded Warriors Canada.

This is a matching gift of up to $150,000, and will help Pflag Canada provide peer-to-peer virtual support to LGBTQ2S communities for issues of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression during COVID-19 lockdowns.

This is a matching gift, and will support the Hospital’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund.

In response to COVID-19, this gift will support Radar, a collaborative digital tool that provides the public and local stakeholders with a map of all food assistance agencies in the Montreal Metropolitan Community that are open or closed during the crisis.

This is a matching gift which will be split evenly between the 4 hospitals to support their COVID-19 response funds.

Part of the TD Ready Commitment, this gift will support immediate and longer-term mental health services in rural or under-resourced communities. It was made in response to the significant increase in the number of people seeking mental health services since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
